Speaker's Bio:
Roland leads core simulator development at Applied. His background is in robotics, with a PhD from EPFL, Switzerland. After an international academic career including Stanford and ETH Zurich, he transitioned to Google X in early 2015 to focus on applications and products. He joined Applied in late 2017 to build the tools for making autonomous systems a reality in the real world. His expertise lies in motion planning and control, including the integration of mapping, localization, and perception into motion generation stacks.
